Diabetes in pregnancy represents a special case in terms of management. Patients with established diabetes will require a pre-pregnancy assessment and management plan. Other patients may present during the pregnancy with gestational diabetes. In this case a new education program is organized in order to manage this situation in the most optimal way.

Other special situations include children with Type 1 diabetes presenting with problems of control and elderly patients with multiple medical problems. The use of steroid medication for other medical conditions such as during chemotherapy also presents a special case as a deterioration of diabetes control becomes inevitable. In this case a programmed management plan will be initiated.

There may also be patients whose diabetes presents an occupational barrier or hazard such as driving, flying or diving. These issues can be reviewed and discussed. All Sports and Adventure programs can be assessed and tailor made initiatives for individualized diabetes management can be established with each patient.
